FRIENDS OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY TRAILS
The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to promote, protect and enhance the public trails owned and operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. The Friends have established and continue to maintain pocket parks along county trails, and recruit individuals to maintain smaller landscaped garden plots to beautify the trail system.
Other activities include installation of park amenities such as benches, bulletin boards, water fountains, public art and environmental features that enhance the experience of trail users. Educational and cultural programs, such as the 4.7 mile long Planet Walk and free summer concerts, also enrich the visitor experience.
The Friends work to maintain buffers along the trails to shield trail users from incompatible development and to undertake and support environmental improvements which enhance the quality of user experiences.
